Tragically Hip Essay

Gord Downie becoming an influence to many people,
and his background story
“Music is the ultimate medium for expressions of love, and those expressions find a beautiful backdrop in the environment. Music is also a popular rallying point — at its central core, it’s a way for people to get in touch with the best parts of themselves and to voice the love in their hearts. And the environment is one of the great loves of our lives — when we think of the best parts of ourselves, the environment is always there, informing us, as a backdrop.” — Gord Downie
Gordon Edgar “Gord” Downie is a major Canadian rock  musician, writer, and on some occasions an actor. This man was part of a very famous band formed in Kingston, “The Tragically Hip.” He was not only one of the most famous Canadian artists, he was also an influence to many people. His story brought all sorts of emotions to his fans such as joy, anger, and depression; this list can go on forever. When listening to his songs and the rhythm or beat, you would at times think it was made to dance and have a good time. However, the moment you sit back and listen to the lyrics a story filled with all sorts of imagery and allusions is formed and you understand the real meaning of the song.
Downie was born in a suburb in Kingston, ON where he met friends to form this band, Tragically Hip. Originally the band started off performing in coffee shops and bars which later resulted into them signing a Record Deal and performing on  real stages. Downie has made several albums with his group including their first album Death Cab

On the 24th of May, 2016, The Tragically Hip shared news that shattered many of their fans hearts. This lead to social media going viral and much more. The famous singer of The Tragically Hip, Gord Downie, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Doctors from different hospitals have said that it is terminal cancer and he will pass away soon. Hearing this horrible news, Downie thought of it as something to gain from.

He insisted to continue playing and to not stop his career. Many people around the world have felt truly strong with this story of how he never gave up. This is influencing people around the world and showing them that no matter what obstacle lies ahead, you can still continue to pursue your dreams. Many Tweets went out on that day: “Stay Strong we will always love you” , “You are my hero and will always be” , “You truly are the fighter in my heart.” Once the news broke out, they created a new album for this event and to support Downie, this album was called “Man Machine Poem.”
Ever since he started battling cancer he was obviously going through a rough time but he was always battling hard. The past months he was diagnosed were the worst but he still performed and will perform for many people around the world. He continues to touch people with his music and to continue his dreams from his childhood. He just wanted to do it to share great music. As he once said, “We want to bring good music to the people. That’s what it’s all about.” — Gord Downie, 2012. Not only did he inspire others, he inspired me. He showed me that no matter what, never give up no matter what comes into your way;there is always a way to dodge the obstacle.
I strongly believe we should respect for all that he has done for us.

Thank you Gord Downie.

Why I Love Sports!!!

Reasons why I love Sports!

Reasons why I love Sports!
As we go back to school from an amazing, relaxing, and calm summer, winter sports are getting back into season. I often get noted about how much I enjoy sport, even some people want to chat about sports and sometimes i get questions if I like sport too much. The next questions came up “What are the reasons for you to adore sports so much.” I thought about it and realized that this is a great topic to share on my blog….Why do i love sports!

  1. Teamwork
Many sports right now involve Teamwork.  They are about working together, with each other's strengths and weaknesses, collectively trying to improve, compensate, utilise these to a greater good.  It's often said 'there's no I in 'team''.  There are, but together those 'I's make 'we's and together, we are stronger.  We need our teammates in sport, and that helps me remember that the world, my life, my existence is not simply about me.
  1. Leadership
Good sport is often the result of good leadership.  It also often leads to it.  Leadership is one of my key passions, and so it figures I enjoy seeing leadership in sports.
Our world today has many confused ideas about leadership.  It's not all about noise, dominance or self-promotion, but rather about wise words, and selflessness.
  1. Hard Work
Sport is hard work.  It requires discipline, commitment, hard graft.  I have lost count of the times on the sports field where I have felt exhausted and unable to continue.
I think sports naturally takes out the laziness and add’s the hard work.
  1. Disappointment
I don't want to say that I don't have disappointment when one of my teams loses or fails in their. But Sports is not everything!  However, it's is not nothing either!  I compete, my teams compete to win.  There is disappointment when we fail, but there is challenge too.  We need to improve, we need to change.  Disappointment in sport allows me to see sport is not everything.  There are things more important in life.  It allows me to have a right perspective on bigger things in life.
  1. Pleasure

Sometimes, you have the same joy when you don't win as when you don't - knowing you have done your best and sometimes have achieved against the odds, brings a smile to my face and a satisfaction that is addictive.

“I always felt that my greatest asset was not my physical ability, it was my mental ability.”– Bruce Jenner

Donald, you had an outstanding debate over Hillary. You were always listening to Hillary’s content and knew what to say whenever the time was necessary. However, you had the tend of disrupting Hilary constantly, 28 times to be contrary.  Next time, you should be more patient when you are participating in a debate. I like the eager energy to speak, but keep calm and wait until the moderator declared your turn. Whenever Hillary was attacking, you seemed to be defending well, you knew how to correct her mistake information to put you down. I don’t understand why you always had the urge to have a quick drink, but it made you seem unattended to the debate. Overall, you had an amazing debate over Hillary and showed much understanding in your content. Next time be more patient and take your time. Great Job Donald!

I think Donald and I would be similar at a debate. I would always be jumping out of my turn because of the false information the opponent is spreading. I figured out that sometimes you have to be patient and wait for your turn to seem more “Presidential”.
In conclusion, I strongly believe Donald had an outstanding debate over his opponent, Hillary. Always was on track and consistent while speaking. He showed he could defend himself whenever being attacked.
